Abstract
Child kidnapping is a crime act that can shock mother emotionally. Kidnapping could be happen to anybody suddenly, without any warning. It can affect so many aspects in victim’s life, family’s life and society around the victim. This research aim to understand the emotion that mother felt when the kidnapping happen and the mother’s emotional coping. This research use qualitative method by interview technique to gathering data. The interview was held with three early adult female subjects around July 2008 until April 2009. The data was analyzed using coping theory from Moos and Schaefer (1986). The result shows that all of the subject felt variety of emotion during the kidnapping. The emotion that occurs in mother during waiting for the child back is the anxiety for the child.
