Abstract
Mother that have child with moderate mental retardation will feel disappointed and sad. Mother as primary caretaker must give more attention and do self adjustment with child`s condition. Self adjustment is a dynamic and natural process in order to change individual`s behavior to be adjust with it’s environment. Moderate mental retardation was classified as a child can take up arms and has of IQ limited about 35-40 to 50-55. This research was using interviewing technique and observation. Interview process was begun at April, 10, 2008 to November, 5, 2008. The research involves four subjects samples. The research result was shown that self adjustment was done by four subjects, however not all the subjects can be identified as having a good self adjustment. Two subjects feels getting success in self-adjustment by child and environment, because they have support from their family and environment. While two other subjects feel no success in self-adjustment by child and environment, because they have less support from their family and environment.
