Abstract
The goal of this research is to find out the psychological impact of infertility that experienced by a wife. The psychological impact includes: internal condition, interpersonal and sexual relationship between a wife and her husband. Them ethod being used in this research was in depth interview. The research was conducted on d uiy 2000 until October 20 00. Th ere were four respondents in this research. all were wom en and have been diagnosed infertile. This research use three m ain theories that are based on the theory of Keye at al., (1995), Miller and Brooten (1996), and Wentz et al, (i988). These theories describe that infertility can cause psychological im pact that experienced by a wife (e.g,, frustration, depression, isolation, angry, and guilty). On the other hand, infertility also can influence the relationship between a wife and herhusband. The result of this research was in support to three theories that infertility can cause psychological im pact that experienced by a wife, like frustration, depression, stress, and influence the coupie relationship. For further research is suggested to explore the im pact of infertimy that 4 experienced by a husband. The solution for an infertile wife is to {acethie life with optimistically and do their activities as 1.13118}. The ether alternative is adopting a child.
