Abstract

Body piercing is an act of creating a hole in certain body parts and the using of accessories in that hole. Body piercing often related to complications that adolescents didn't think about seriously. Other than that, society still tend to judge body piercing as a negative act, therefore banned in some countries. This 3 research is meant to search for the difference in perception about body piercing, between adolescents that have body piercing and those who didn't. This research is conducted at some National Plus Senior High in Kemayoran on September- October 2005. The subjects in this research are 413 National Plus Senior-High students, with 204 subjects did not have body piercing, and 209 other subjects have done body piercing. From discriminant analysis calculations, there are 6 things that differ the perception of the two-groups of subjects significantly: (a) the reflected student-style, (b) its effect to the body, (0) the judgement of good and bad, (d) the "cool" impression, (e) the generality of body piercing, and (f) thebad-boy" impression.
