Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the non-verbal communication skills of children with Asperger disorder through Orrf-Schulwerk music therapy interventions . The research method used is a method of case study as the main method and quantitative research methods as support. Case study methods used are observation and in-depth interview, while the quantitative research method used is the measurement of non-verbal communication. Three aspects of non-verbal communication which is measured are the haptics (HA), kinesics (KN), and vocalics (VC) aspects. Number of subjects used in this research are 3 children, which consists of two boys and one girl who collected using purposive sampling techniques. Results of Orff-Schulwerk music therapy methods which is conducted as much as ten sessions with a duration of 30 minutes each session and given twice a week is quite effective in improving the ability of non-verbal communication two from three subjects, namely the subject of one and three. Subject one experienced an increase of 50% for the HA and KN aspect, and 27% for the VC aspect. Subjects three experienced an improvement of 56% for the KN aspect and 27 % for the VC aspect.
