Abstract

Breast cancer is uncontrolled growth of cells inside the breast. The cause is still unclearly identified. The most recent medical method is also considered unsatisfying for the patients. This kind of condition is causing the feelings of anxiety and worry on the patients. This research is set to reduce anxiety and worry level on breast cancer patients. The research takes place from November 2007 through November 2008. There are four subjects in this research. The result indicates the feelings of anxiety and worry that the cancer patients experience is cause by several factors, such as long-termed treatment process, changes in physical appearance and ability, financial burden, probability of cancer metastation, and the probability of cancer on one of their family members. The application of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and supportive approach is aimed to reduce overwhelming feelings of anxiety and on breast cancer patients. The objective is so that the patient would stop thinking about the worse thing could probably happen, but not necessarily would. Also to stop feeling helpless because of the cancer. The results suggests that the anxiety and worry level of the subject who went through with the therapy is reduced (on the basis of the HRS-A questionnaire). The subject is starting to realize about her potentials and thinking positively for her own benefit.
