Abstract
The preschool years is a time of rapid development in children’s self regulatory competency. Self regulation is identified based on self inhibition and self assertion dimension. The purpose of research is to examine the impact of mother parenting style to preschoolers self regulation. Participants (N= 101) are 3 - and 4 – year olds, and their mothers from Sanggar Kreativitas Bona Preschool. Mother Parenting style is identified based on demandingness and responsiveness dimension. The statistical result suggested that the parenting style does not appear to be significantly related to self regulation. But self inhibition dimension analysis showed that authoritative parents who are highly demanding and highly responsive are significantly related to self inhibition. Analysis with father education control variable indicated that well-educated father and mother with authoritarian parenting style significantly influence the level of child self assertion. Analysis with parenting style dimension showed that higher demandingness is positive associated with self assertion. Additional result may indicate that age, sex, mother education, quantity of children in family are associated with self regulation.
