Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of job satisfaction and perceptions of retirement on stress levels. Data were gathered through a simple random sampling technique, and results were obtained from 97 participants, all senior civil servants in East Sumba. Based on research results, it can be concluded that (1) senior civil servants in East Sumba tend to be satisfied with their work as civil servants, (2) in general, study participants tend to exhibit low levels of stress, with only 9 of the participants identified as having high levels of stress, ( 3) while the overall picture of participants' perception of retirement is generally found to be positive, (4) there was no effect of job satisfaction on stress levels, (5) there is a perception about the level of stress suffered by retired senior civil servants in East Sumba. Of the four aspects dealing with the perception of retirement, only two significantly affect the stress level of income and fulfillment perceptions of family needs and perceptions of social relations, while two other aspects of Perceptions of Social Status and Perception of activity after retirement had no effect on stress levels in the District Senior Civil Servants East Sumba.
