Abstract
The purpose of this study is to knowing the relationship between perception of maternal support and body image in overweight adolescent girls. Eventhough overweight adolescent girls is generally more dissatisfied with her appearance, the existence of perception of social support especially from mother is believed could decrease that dissatisfaction. This study was held using the nonexperimental quantitative method, and analyzed using the Spearman’s rho correlation in the SPSS 12.0 program. The study was conducted from August to October in DKI Jakarta, and number of participants in this study were 88 overweight adolescent girls. Result of the study rs (88) = -0.308, p < 0.01 shows that there is negative relationship between perception of maternal support and body image in overweight adolescent girls.
