Abstract
Self-esteem is self evaluation about his/her ability and worth. This evaluation is necessary for adolescences to find their identity. Identity is classified into four categories which named status. The statuses are identity diffusion, foreclosure, moratorium, and identity achievement. People with identity achievement have higher self-esteem than those with the three other statuses. The formation of identity and self-esteem is influenced by the family relationship, especially parents. The role of father is as important as the role of mother in adolescence’s life, but not all parents realize it. The purpose of this study is to find the difference of self-esteem based on identity status in late adolescences who do not live with their fathers. The subject’s number in this study is 90 persons, which consist of 39 males and 51 females. Data has been collected through questionnaire and analyzed using One-Way Anova; F (3, 79) = .98, p (.408) > .05. The result is no difference of self-esteem based on identity status in late adolescences who do not live with their fathers.
