Abstract
Parental separation and divorce may influence children’s emotion and wellbeing. Children of divorced parents often show behavioral problems such as aggression. This research was conducted in order to find out the role of Art Therapy in reducing aggression of the middle childhood development during post parental divorce. The subject are a 9 years old orphanage boy in Jagakarsa and another boy of the same age in Jatiwaringin. The subject were interviewed between the months of December 2011 to February 2012 and months of April 2012 to May 2012. The Aggression Observation Sheet was used to obtain data before and after the therapy sessions to see whether there is any change in his aggression behavior when doing group activities. After several art therapy sessions both children appear to be more capable in controlling their conducts, and their statements indicated that they could accept their parent’s condition. Their aggression behavior is also reduced.
