Abstract

Teens can essentially be an individual with the potential for outstanding achievement. Some teens have a good response and enjoy the challenge that still manages to be berstrategi teen achievers. This period provides the opportunity to grow, not only in the physical dimension, but also self-esteem. However, this period also has risks. Most troubled teens in the face of changes that occur simultaneously. Similarly related to self-esteem. In addition to selfesteem, decreased academic achievement of students allegedly due to low future time perspective so that students do not have lead planning study. In fact, the school is a form of planning for the future is needed to face the challenges of life. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-esteem, future time perspective (FTP) with a junior high student achievement X Jakarta in the academic year 2012/2013. Study subjects consisted of 404 students. The data was collected using a psychological scale, which consists of two scales, the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI) and the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI). While academic achievement using semester grades. Data analysis is done by using the Pearson correlation. The results showed that: (1) there is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem with academic achievement (r = 0.128, p <0.05), means that the higher the self-esteem of high academic achievement, (2) there is a positive relationship significantly between future time perspective (FTP) with academic achievement (r = 0.157, p <0.05), meaning the higher the higher the FTP academic achievement, and (3) there is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem with dimensions FTP . The correlation between self-esteem with FTP for (r = 0.322, p <0.05), means that the higher self-esteem, the higher the FTP.
