Abstract

Due to personality, people act and respond vary. The present study investigates the relationship between the dimension of conscientiousness from the 5-factor model of personality (often termed the Big Five) and the collaborating style from conflict management styles among managers. Conscientiousness was chosen from the 5-factor model of personality because it has strong relationship to performance at work. Collaborating style was chosen from conflict management because Rostiana (2001) found that managers in Jakarta often use that style to managing conflict. On the basis data of 48 managers, results indicated positive correlation between the onscientiousness of 5-factor model of personality and collaborating style from conflict mananagement styles (r=. 348).
