Abstract

"The objective of this research is to study whether Floor Time intervention can be use to increase the two way non verbal communication in children with childhood disintegrative disorder. Floor Time is an intervention through on the floor with children to interact and play for 20-30 minutes. Two way communication is specifically establish a communication between individuals that involves a reciprocal relationship, the goal is to build a relationship. Communication should not be verbal, the most important goal is to communicate with others. Two way non verbal communication is focus in this study, such as initiate and respond to interaction with others (holding or touching the hands of others, kiss, caress), responded with a motion gestures aimed (eye contact and imitate, and expression of emotion (laugh, sullen, cry). Childhood disintegrative disorder is grouped with the pervasive developmental disorder, characterized by at least two years of normal development, followed by loss of language, social skills, motor skills, and another adaptive function such as toilet training. The type of research is a qualitative with single case design. The research confirmed that the use of Floor Time intervention is able to increase two way non verbal communication. The conclusion of the research is that the use of Floor Time intervention increased the two way communication in children with childhood disintegrative disorder."
