Abstract

Parents expect their children to have high achievement a school. in order to fulfill the expectations, parents tend to provide children with additional courses outside the school. However, children may experience stress and exhaustion because of their tight schedule of studying. Children subjective impression influences the magnitude of stress they experience. Moreover, they are threatened by parental expectations that are beyond their capacity to conduct school achievement. The subjective impression is influenced by individual factors such as personality factor and environmental factors such as communication and social support. This quantitative research explores whether there are relationships between children's stress on learning and parental expectation on their children's school achievement. Data collection was conducted by using questionnaires based on Likert scale. Subjects were 40 elementary school students (age 10-12)vvho also attend additional courses at school or outside the school. Data analysis was conducted by using Pearson Product Moment. Results indicated that there was no relationship between children's stress on learning and parental expectation on children's school achievement.
