Abstract
Traditionally, the role of a husband in the family is a family head, specially as a wage earner. While the role of a wife is still limited to domestic duties. The growing society and globalization have changed the role of a woman. Now a days, the number of working women has become larger, and that’s mean that chance for them to get a better career and a better income are more opened. When the wife has a bigger income from the husband, it will threatened the identity of the husband as a family head. This research is done with the purpose to get a picture about self-esteem from husband whose wife has a bigger income. This research is conducted with the method of in depth interview. The number of subject in this research are five people, with the age between 30-40 years old, and with the minimum education from High School. The criteria of subject doesn’t involved race and religion. The research has found that the husbands whose income are lower from their wife have low self-esteem in their own family neighborhood. The casual factor are: individual meaningless, individual performance, psychological well-being, the treatment from the wife, and unharmonious family situation.
