Abstract

Working in Construction Company requires employee to be willing to face physical condition especially in uncomfortable and dynamic environment, also with irregular work hours and high work pressure. In this case, only certain people who have passion could overcome the situation. Passion in this research is in the context of work, specifically a strong inclination toward a work that one loves (or at least strongly likes), and highly values, that is part of the identity, and that leads one to invest time and energy. In line with Self-determination theory, it stated that passion is being internalized by motivation. Intrinsic motivation evolved when basic needs are fulfilled; autonomy, competent, and relatedness. The organization, also supervisor as the organization’s representation, should be able to fulfill those needs. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of perceived supervisory support to work passion. Beside environment factor, this study also examine the role of individual factor, psychological capital. The research uses a non probability sampling with 367 participants and regression technique to test the hypothesis. The results show an influence of psychological capital and perceived supervisory support on work passion, is 39,4% (R square 0,394). Based on Standardized Coefficients (Beta), work passion is more influenced by psychological capital than perceived supervisory support.
