Abstract
The study aim is to find out the relationship between goal orientation and learning modalities in first year university students. Goal orientation is patterns that influence a number of motivational, cognitive, and behavioral outcomes of goal. Learning modalities are the way people learn more easily with their sensory modalities preferences. The basic assumption of the nature of relationship between the two variables was the more students set and keep up with their goal orientation, the more they will actively searching for a best effective way of learning, and that can be the way they engage in learning more with their learning modalities. The total amount of subject in this research is 146 first year students of psychology faculty on Tarumangara University. The research found that the correlation between the two 'fariables is rxy (144) = 0.428, with probability value of p < 0.05. This resulut shows that there is significant relationships between goal orientation and learning modalities of first year university students.
