Abstract

Individual with intellectual disabilty, usually have a deficit in the three areas (conceptual, practice, and social). In practice area, economic activity is one of adaptive skill indicators that should be achieved for everyone. Economic activity such as maintaining of money and shopping skill is an aspect from American Association Mental Deficiency-Adaptive Behavior Scale (AAMD-ABS). The aim of this study is applied the community based instruction (CBI) to improve shopping skills (including of money used) for adolescent with intellectual disability (ID). This study use single case experimental method, and two adolescents with intellectual disability are the subject. The result of this study have shown that applied instruction in real community (setting) could improve shopping skills in adolescent with intellectual disability. Adolescent with intellectual disability could achieve the series of steps (chain) in shopping skills, when they had experienced in real community or minimarket (community based). Both of subject have increased in activity which is related with shopping list and queue to pay their goods.
