Abstract
Single life with all the advantages and disadvantages is interesting to be studied. Some of the opinions said that single people tend to feel lonely. On the contrary, there were others opinions said that there were single people who live alone but not lonely. This research aims to understand the role of single status on the loneliness of single women. Loneliness is an uncomfortable feeling that felt by someone because of the lack of relationship (Taylor, Peplau, & Sears, 2006). There are 4 type of loneliness, emotional loneliness, social loneliness (Weiss dalam Taylor et al., 2006), chronic loneliness, and situational loneliness (Taylor et al., 2006). This research involved the 4 single women aged 30-40 years. Collecting data was done with a depth interviews conducted from May 21st to June 2nd, 2009. The results of this research shows that single status influence loneliness of single women only in a certain situation.
