Abstract
This study aims to compare body image among girls in late adolescent based on maternal parenting style. Maternal parenting style influenced late teenage girl’s body image to become either positive or negative. Body image is someone’s body form perception being satisfactory or unsatisfactory. Parenting style is a care pattern used by parents to educate and nurturing their children either authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, or neglect. The study was conducted on 393 girls in late adolescent aged from 17-21 years old in Psychology Faculty of Tarumanagara University. This study uses non-experimental quantitative method to test the differences. Data analysis result from the test of each parenting style compared with various body image dimensions shows that Appearance Evaluation, Fitness Orientation, Illness Orientation, and Body Areas Satisfaction are not significantly different on comparison of maternal parenting style.
