Abstract
Emotional regulation is an arrangement of several techniques that have many aspects in the form of attention, cognition, or behavior managing internal states or external expressions on emotions. Emotional regulation has two dimensions, namely cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression which can be useful for controlling individual emotions. Driving behavior is a behavior of individuals who are able to control and how to operate a vehicle, both private vehicles and public transportation. Good driving behavior is formed to increase motorists' awareness of all the possibilities that occur in driving. The purpose of this study was to examine the role of emotional regulation on risky driving behavior in private motorists in DKI Jakarta. Data collection used convenience sampling sampling technique carried out from February 2013 to December 2013. The results showed that there was influence in the role of emotional regulation and risky driving behavior with a value of r = -0.029, p 5 0.05. So, the higher the regulation of emotions, the lower the risky driving behavior
