Abstract
Social prejudice is one reason individuals tend to decide to marry couples of the same ethnicity compared to different ethnic groups. In fact the marriage of individuals with different ethnicities is still carried out. Prejudice is usually a negative attitude towards members of a particular group. Inter-ethnic conflict, learning process, illusory correlation, cognitive, are the causes of prejudice. Problems in inter-ethnic marriage can be overcome if each individual can tolerate one another. This study aims to provide an overview of sources of prejudice in early adults who have marriages of different ethnicities. Qualitative research methods are used with in-depth interview techniques for four early adult subjects with a minimum marriage age of 5 years. The results showed that the four subjects had different sources of prejudice. The source of prejudice most experienced by research subjects is direct conflict between groups and initial learning. The existing prejudices create negative stereotypes, so that subjects stay away from certain ethnicities.
