Abstract
Polygamy is the type of unusual marriage, especially for women in early adulthood with development stage such as having a partner, job, marriage, and having kids. The purpose of this study was to determine second wife’s adjustment on marriage polygamy and to find out their reason to be second wife on marriage polygamy. The adjustment is one of human’s process to develop and accept their inferiority, and then make that inferiority to be more functional (Haber & Runyon, 1984). The adjustment is something that second wife on marriage polygamy need to do for adaptation and make good connection with others and environment. This study using in-depth interview to collect the data, and has 3 second wives on marriage polygamy based on religion and law, within 25-40 years old as respondents. Based on the analysis results of the study revealed that, there are two respondents who have good adjustment, they can adjust themselves to other people and their environment after their marriage. Otherwise, one respondent has poor adjustment, she can’t adjust herself to other people and can’t participate to any activities in her environment after her marriage.
