Abstract

The purpose of this study aims to determine the relationship between religious coping on the psychological well being of former leprosy patients in area X, in Tangerang. Religious coping is an attempt to tackle critical condition and obtain something that is important in a way that involves religion or spirituality. While psychological well being is a condition when the individual is able to receive any excess or deficiency, so as to create a state of personal and mental health in accordance with the positive psychological functioning. Data were obtained through a questionnaire in 116 former leprosy patients in the X, Tangerang, chosen by purposive sampling technique and processed with SPSS version 17.00. The results of this study found that there is a relationship between religious coping on the psychological well being of former leprosy patients in the X, Tangerang, with the correlation results for 0295 and p = 0.01. These results demonstrate the positive religious coping on the former leper in the X, Tangerang, the higher the psychological well being of former leprosy patients in the X, Tangerang. Conversely, the more negative religious coping former leprosy patients the lower the psychological well being of former leprosy patients in area X, Tangerang.
