Abstract

The police institution was established as a professional apparatus, decisive, and humane in the society. The police in charge of handling various social problems, maintaining security, enforce the law and protect the public. Nowadays, the image of the police decreased due to a violation of discipline, one in the form of conformity. The purpose of this study is to describe the conformity to police violations in Polrestabes X, The research method used is descriptive quantitative involving 109 subject and using non probability sampling technique. The measurements of conformity towards violation refers to Baron and Bryne (2005), that is conformity is a type of social influence which individualism change their belief and behavior to fit the prevailing norms. Conformity is a result of the influence of the group that consist of normative and informative dimensions. Data was collected on November until December 2015, using questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis with differential test with independent samples test. The result of this research show that the level of conformity on subject tend to be high with mean of 3.47. Two dimensions measured, normative dimension is higher with mean of 3.53 compared to informative dimension with mean of 3.40. It can be concluded that subject’s level of conformity tends to be high.
