Abstract
Individuals with low self-esteem tend to take the risk taking behavior, nowever individuals with high self-esteem will avoid the risk taking behavior. The purpose of this research is to see the correlation between self-esteem and risk taking behavior among the metalhead at Ujung Berung Bandung community. This research involved 125 correspondence within the community. Purposive sampling or judgemental sampling are the technique used for sample collecting. The result significantly presents negatif correlation between self-esteem and risk taking behavior based on this research with value of r = -0.362 and value of p = 0.000 < 0.005. Based on research , other result shows that there are correlation between self-esteem and the five dimensions of risk taking behavior which consist of dimensions of crime, driving behavior, health issue, status denial, and consuming drugs.
