Abstract
"The aim of this research is to know the correlation between music preference and risk-taking behavior on adolescence in Jakarta. This study involved 562 students from five different schools that represents every region in Jakarta using stratified sampling and cluster sampling technique. The results showed there is significant correlation between music preference and risk-taking behavior. There are significant and positive correlations between energetic and rhythmic and also intense and rebellious with risk-taking behavior. There are significant and negative correlations between reflective and complex and also upbeat and conventional with risk-taking behavior. The strongest correlation is between upbeat and conventional and risk-taking behavior (r = -0.602, p = 0.000 < 0.05) and the weakest correlation is between intense and rebellious and risk-taking behavior (r = 0.438, p = 0.000 < 0.05). The result shows person with high risktaking behavior are more like to hear energetic and rhythmic songs and also intense and rebellious songs, and don’t like reflective and complex song and also upbeat and conventional songs, and vice versa"
