Abstract
People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) not only faced with physical problems but also psychological problems. This is related with quality of life which is influenced by various factors. Nasroni (in Diatmi & Fridari, 2014) revealed that one of the factors that have an important role in quality of life is social support. Social support have four aspects there are companionship support, emotional support, informational support, and tangible support. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of social support aspect on the quality of life in PLWHA. Characteristics of the subjects in this study is were adult individuals living with HIV/AIDS for approximately 3 months,both men and women. Participants of this study consisted of 72 people living with HIV at the foundation x in Jakarta by using purposive sampling technique. By using the technique of linear regression, the assessment in more detail to explain aspects of companionship support has a role at 25.8% (R2 = 25.8, t = 4.932, p = 0.00), emotional support amounted 16.2% (R2 = 16.2, t = 3.682, p = 0.00), informational support amounted 9.1% (R2 = 9.1, t = 2.655, p = 0.10) and tangible support amounted 7.8% (R2 = 7.8, t = 2.432, p = 0.18), while the percentage of social support on quality of life amounted to 19.4% (R2 = 19.4, t = 4.098, p = 0.00).
