Abstract

Tattoo is an expression of art on a person’s body. Tattoo has a correlation with an individual’s self-concept expression. Therefore, the research about tattoo is interesting to be studied in the field of psychology. Self-concept is a person’s overall image of himself. The aim of this study is to have a better understanding on the self-concept of early adulthood women with tattoo. This study is done quantitatively on 200 respondents by handing out physical or online questionnaire to each respondents. The distribution of questionnaires was conducted from April, 8th 2018 untill May, 21st 2018. The sampling technique used in this study is convenience sampling. In this study researcher used Tennesse Self-Concept Scale (TSCS) which is developed by William H. Fitts to measure the variable. The result of this study shows that the self-concept of early adulthood women with tattoo is positive. According to the descriptive statistics analysis the most dominant aspect in developing positive self-concept is social aspects. Related to that, it is known that as many as more than 50% of respondents have never experienced a particular treatment by the environment associated with the tattoo on his body.
