Abstract
Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is not a rare thing. CO produced from incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons from motor vehicle fuel. CO poisoining occurs because its odorless, tasteless and colorless so that the victim does not realize that they are breathing CO. Under normal circulation, hemoglobin (Hb) binds to oxygen (O2) or called oxyhemoglobin. However, because the Hb affinity to binding CO is 200 to 240 times greater than its affinity to binding O2, its caused a HbO2 bond becomes a carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO). Some jobs have a greater risk of getting exposure to CO gas as in parking workers whose daily parking the motorized vehicles so that it is closer to the source of CO. In this study, measurements will be carried out using pulse oximetry, a device used to measure peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2). Pulse oximetry can indirectly measure peripheral CO levels if levels increase in the blood. Assessment will be carried out on parking workers before and after work so that changes in peripheral oxygen saturation can be seen before and after in workers that works in the Green Pramuka City basement parking. This research is descriptive quantitative with analysis of paired sample t-test. This research was conducted from January – June 2019 to 58 respondents and it was found that 23 respondents (40%) experienced a decreased in SpO2, 5 respondents (9%) experienced an increased in SpO2, and 30 respondents (51%) experienced no change in SpO2. In this study there was a significant relationship between SpO2 before work and SpO2 after work (p<0,0001), but the results of this study are less meaningful (SD 0,310
