Abstract

The developed application system is intended to help experts in medicine to diagnose a disease by recognizing types of white blood cells. The recognition system was developed using the Nearest Feature Line method. In NFL method, the feature lines were developed using the linear, quadratic spline, and cubic spline interpolation methods. Besides developing the recognition system, this paper also discuss the comparation of the interpolation methods for constructing the feature lines. The experiment was conducted using blood cell images of Pattern Recognition Lab FTI Untar database. The experimental results show that the development of feature lines using linear interpolation gave better results than the spline interpolation method.
