Abstract
Long segment is a concept of road preservation treatment within the limits of one or more long continuous segment that is carried out in order to obtain a uniform road condition that is steady and standardized. Long segment includes some scope of activities, such as road widening, road reconstruction, road rehabilitation and routine maintenance of roads. The concept of road preservation treatment using long segment attracted researcher to conduct research on the application of the long segment contract. The study was conducted by reviewing the compatibility between long segment with applicable laws, Researcher also conducted a study on the implementation of routine maintenance work which is new for the major service providers. The methods used are conducting interviews and questionnaires. To analyze the data, the researcher used SPSS as well as analyzing the results of interviews and questionnaires. This study shows that long segment contract application does not meet legal requirements set forth in Presidential Regulation number 54 of 2010 and its amendments. Long segment contract also experienced problems in routine maintenance work. Hence, a deeper study of the concept and application of long segment is still needed.
