Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of mergers and acquisitions on the performance of companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The company's performance is measured using financial ratios as follows: NPM (net profit margin), ROA (return on assets), and the tattoo (Total Asset Turnover). While the population of the study include a public company listed on the Stock Exchange which have merged, and the company announced its merger activity in the period 2000-2007. The sampling method used in this study was purposive sampling, there are 14 companies that fall into the criteria of this study. The method of data analysis is descriptive statistics, normality, different test Wilcoxon Sign Test, and Paired Sample t-test. Results showed NPM hypothesis testing, TATTOOS with Paired sample t-test from 1 year to 4 years later after experiencing no difference, while ROA hypothesis testing with Paired sample t-test of 1 year after, after 2 years and 4 years after not there are differences as well as ROA of 3 years after the Wilcoxon signed Ranks test was also not experienced the difference between before and after the merger.
