Abstract
Estimating construction process is somehow similar to an art. This concept becomesmore appropriate when process estimating is faced with uncertain condition like such indeveloping country, Indonesia. The problem is about how to alter the uncertainty into acertain probabilistic calculation which could be used in estimating. The concept ofprobabilistic scheduling method itself has been developed since then, known as PERT(Program Evaluation Review Technique), which is commonly being used inmanufacture process. Since a construction process is unique, gathering data to calculatethe optimistic and the pessimistic duration, as the method requirement, becomesdifficult. An alternate solution to calculate that type of duration is proposed by usingsome influencing factors. This paper describes the factors identification and reducingfor each type of probabilistic duration as a first step in calculating optimistic andpessimistic duration. This research is funded by the directorate of higher education, education and culture Ministry of The Republic of Indonesia under national strategiccompetition grant scheme.
