Abstract
Insomnia is defined as difficulty falling or staying asleep. This is the most common sleep complaint, and it can be temporary or permanent. A mental disorder that is closely related to insomnia is anxiety. Anxiety is a normal reaction to certain threatening situations, and it occurs simultaneously with development, change and new experiences, as well as the search for one's identity and life. The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between anxiety levels and insomnia in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Tarumanagara University class of 2018. This research is an analytic observational using a cross sectional approach. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and insomnia from students of the Faculty of Medicine, Tarumanagara University class 2018. The sampling technique used non-random sampling with consecutive sampling type using the chi-square test on 200 FK Untar 2018 students by distributing the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale questionnaire and Insomnia Severity Index. From a total of 200 respondents, it was found that 134 people experienced anxiety, 66 people did not experience anxiety, 117 people experienced insomnia and 83 people did not experience insomnia. Of the 134 people who experience anxiety, 109 (81.5%) people experience insomnia. Statistically, there was a significant relationship between the level of anxiety and insomnia (PR = 6.71; p-value = 0.0001). In conclusion, there is a relationship between anxiety levels and insomnia in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Tarumanagara University class 2018.
