Abstract

Library is a room or building used for storing books and other publications. There are two main elements in the library, books and room, but now a library collection is not only limited to the form of books, but can include films, slides, or others. The device in this design is a machine made of plywood. Reading of input data membership card and book using barcode technology. The design is also equipped with two conveyors, first conveyor for bringing the books to the lending section and the second for bringing the books returned to the space provided. Each conveyor is built on one DC motor which can move in two directions. Computer on this design is used for data storage of books and controls microcontroller. Computer for data storage function is to store who and when books are borrowed and returned . Computer as the controller of microcontroller is functioning if the book placed on the conveyor is not readable by the barcode sensor, then the computer will send commands to the microcontroller and the microcontroller will change the direction of rotation of the conveyor, so the book is in the starting position. Each module designed is tested in order to know the discrepancy between the working of each module with the theory, while the testing done on the system is to determine whether the system is suitable with the purpose of the design. Based on test results, this device is able to enter the borrower books data and books borrowed, and vice versa, the device can accept input data of the person who return the books and books wanted to be returned.
