Abstract
CORRELATION OF DAILY CIGARETTE CONSUMPTION AGAINST THE BLOOD PRESSURE OF TARUMANAGARA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN NOVEMBER UNTIL DECEMBER 2015 Smoking habit could endanger health. WHO declared, almost 6 million people dies because of cigarettes. Indonesian teens has a smoking habit. The purpose of this research is to know the existence of the relationship of smoking with changes in blood pressure against a student at the University of Tarumanagara. Research are analytical, with a design study cross sectional using questionnaires with consecutive non random sampling techniques on 97 respondents.The results showed. The result showed that there were 37 respondens with mild cigarette consumption, consist of 29 respondens with normal blood pressure and 8 respondens with high blood pressure. The respondens with heavy cigarette consumption were 60 respondens. Out of this number, there were 14 respondens with normal blood pressure and 46 respondens with high blood pressure. There is a significant correlation between the amount of consumption cigarettes and blood pressure (p < 0,05). To reduce abnormality in blood pressure then expected respondents can stop the consumption of cigarettes.
