In the construction industry, the material management is often overlooked and this usually leads to wasteful inventories and storage. With small storage spaces, this issue becomes eminent due to the limitation of material storage and material movement. Bigger procurement of materials can ensure the punctuality of a project delivery. However the cost of material handling (such as damage, loss, storage, etc.) is increased as well. Conversely, the possibility of ‘stock out’ is higher with smaller inventories. Therefore it is necessary to have a management that will aid the process of material procurement. This thesis will present a supply-chain analysis, especially in the procurement of materials that exist in the project with the value engineering methodology. This thesis also explores all criteria involved and the sequences that exist in the procurement of materials. The data is obtained through various interviews and questionnaires, which is then processed through stages of value engineering work plan. The organizational structure that is obtained from the value engineering methodology is project engineering, project manager, purchasing and project logistics.
