Abstract
Special Economic Zones (SEZ) Tourism Tanjung Lesung will be developed as an integrated tourism city of 1,500 hectares which supported by various infrastructures with international standard. In accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 3 of 2016 on Acceleration of the Implementation of National Strategic Development, Tanjung Lesung is included in one of the 10 priority tourist destinations 2106-2019. Public response such as perception and community participation in planning process need to be considered by related parties because it can influence the successful implementation of development plan. This study aims to examine the perception and community participation towards the acceleration of infrastructure development in Tanjung Lesung tourism area by identifying the factors that become challenges in the development process involving community participation. This study was conducted using survey methods through interviews some experts and research participants. The data was obtained and analyzed descriptively. Based on the result of this research, it shows that the community is still less active in providing input either in the form of suggestions or opinions. Basically, people can feel benefits and feel satisfied to the accelerated program of infrastructure development but there is still perception of a small number of people who worried that this program will give benefits to the private sector and government only. To solve these problems, socialization activities should be carried out intensively by the related parties to improve the perception and participation of non�governmental organizations in infrastructure development and those should always be oriented to the interests of the community, mutual relationship and the community can decide their initiative independently.
