Abstract
"The goaI of this research is whether the acceptance of physical punishment experience since childhood has relation with adolescence aggressive's behavior. Family are the first environment for children, where the children get first experience that influence their life. ln family environment, parenting style has an important role in child development. One style‘ of parenting is using physical punishment. Physical punishment refers to a process done by parents to make physical pain on children; while adolescence's aggressive behavior defined as physical behavior that means to hurt other people with anger and attack. This research using quantitative method, used questionnaire in obtaining data. The questionnaire is divided into two parts, which are the acceptance of physical punishment experience in verbal frequency scale containing 31 items and the adolescence's aggressive behavior in verbal frequency scale containing 80 items. Questionnaires are distributed in May, 2000. Using strarified sampling, 100 subjects according to the characteristics predetermined were obtained in fifteen high schools in the West Jakarta region. Result obtained from data processed by Pearson Product Moment tecnique (used SPSS for MS WINDOWS New Release 9.0) is r +0,636 that sign= 0,048. This shows that the researches's hypothesis is accepted, that show there is correlation between the experience of being punished physically during childhood and aggressive behavior during adolescence. Finally, it is advised for the future researches that researcher to add subject in the larger area. Lastly, it is advised for further researches to use qualitative method as well as quantitative method. "
