Bullying is a behavior pattern where someone’s being a target of repetitive aggression by one person or more, target or victim generally is not as powerful as the perpetrator. Bullying in high school happens among students, particularly seniors or sophomore to juniors. Bullying behavior in high school affects the victims negatively, causes stress to them. Because of victims’ helplessness in dealing with the perpetrators, victims try to cope with the stress by doing emotion-focused coping. This research was done to five subjects; high school students with different genders, boys and girls; aged between 16 and 18 years old. This research, which used interview techniques, lasted for more than six months, from June 12th, 2008 until December 19th, 2008. The result of the research shows that bullying behavior in high school causes stress for victims. From five subjects, all of them applied emotion-focused coping strategies to deal with stress resulted from bullying behavior they experienced, particularly learned helplessness, seeking social support, and distancing strategies.
