Abstract
Secure attachment is related with the presence of parents at child's side, and obtained froni emotional attachment with parents. The preadolescence age is a period with many changes that need a lot of attention from parents. This research describes the difference of secure attachment between preadolescence who lives with parents and those who live at the orphanages. The objective of this research is to prove whether there is any difference between the preadolescence who live with parents and those who live at the orphanages. This research is a non-experimental, using comparative study, quantitatively, and using survey technique. The subject of this research are 60 preadolescence aged between 10- 12 years old and divided into two groups; 30 preadolescence living with parents and 30 preadolescence living at the orphanages. The sampling technique used is convenience sampling, and the subjects that are being research are from the Vincentius orphanages, and Fransiskus I Primary School, in Central Jakarta. The result shows t (58) = 3,358, p<0,01 (research hypothesis is accepted). This means that there is a difference of secure attachment between preadolescence who live with parents and those who live at the orphanages. Subjects, who live with parents, have higher secure attachment, than those who live at the orphanages. lt is concluded by the factor of parent's presence at the side of a child, since he/she was born.
