Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of perceived organizational support on commitment organization and the role of locus on control on the effect of perceived organizational support on commitment organization. Organizational commitment refers to the desire of employee to remain as part of organization. The importance of organizational commitment, make researchers look for variables that expected to have effect on organizational commitment, and one of it is perceived organizational support. Perceived organizational support refers to employee beliefs about how much organization care and value their contribution in organization welfare. Futhermore, locus of control as one of personality variable expected to have moderation role in the affect of perceived organizational support on organization commitment. Locus of control refers to reflection of a person’s belief in personal control in life (internality) rather in control by outside forces or individuals (externality). This study involved 56 research partisipant consisting the employees of a profit organization using purposive sampling technique on target population. According to regresion analysis result, perceived organizational support evidently affect organizational commitment (r = 0.545; p = 0.000 < 0.05). The higher perceived organizational support, the higher organizational commitment, and vice versa. Futhermore, this study result also shows that locus of control indeed have a role in enhancing the effect of perceived organizational support on organizational commitment ( r = 0.630; p = 0.011 < 0.05). The lower locus of control, the higher effect of perceived organizational support on organizational commitment, and vice versa.
