Abstract

An increase in cheating behavior from year to year causing the necessity examined regarding any matters that may affect cheating behavior in order to be minimized, one of which is self-efficacy. The aim of this research is to know the role of self-efficacy against cheating behavior in middle adolescent (15-18 years old). The research was carried out in SMAN X which are in the area of West Jakarta by using convenience sampling. Self-efficacy scale adapted from Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995) which consists of ten positive items. Items measuring cheating behavior adapted from Fox and Meijer (2008), which consists of 36 positive items. This study involved 238 high school students. The results showed that there is a negative influence of self-efficacy against cheating behavior with the value of F = 15,887, t = –3,986, and p = 0,000, i.e. the higher self-efficacy, cheating behavior will be getting lower. Self-efficacy plays a role in a significant way towards cheating behavior with a value of R² = 0,063. It also showed that 6,3% donation of self-efficacy against cheating behavior while the rest is donated by other factors (100% – 6,3% = 93,7%).
