Abstract

The quality of education in Indonesia can be said worse, and one of the causes is the quality of teacher that educate. A good quality teacher affects students motivation and achievement. Teacher with sense of humor is one of a qualified teacher’s characteristics. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between student’s perceptions of teacher’s sense of humor with learning motivation in high school student’s. This study included 176 students, 89 students in tenth grade, and 87 students in eleventh grade at IK school, in North Jakarta using purposive sampling technique. Primary data analysis in this study using the Pearson correlation test with r= 0,311 and p = 0.000 <0.00. This suggests that there is a positive and significant relationship between student’s perceptions of teacher’s sense of humor with learning motivation in high school students. The more positive student’s perceptions of teachers sense of humor, the higher the student’s motivation. In contrast, the more negative student’s perceptions of teacher’s sense of humor, then the lower the student’s motivation.
