Abstract

The study was conducted to determine how the image of parental social support related to character education to victims of bullying in children aged 6-12 years. Social support is a form of interpersonal relationships that can foster a feeling of comfort with people who are in the vicinity through the process of communication, and social contacts. This study used the theory of Sarafino (2006) regarding the forms of social support and strength of character of Peterson and Seligman (2004). Data collection conducted in the period between March 2012 until May 2012. The subjects used in this study as many as three persons, namely primary school children aged 6-12 years who experienced bullying. Based on survey results revealed that there are five forces that character motivation, humanity and love, justice, temperance or self-management, and transcendence, and each subject to obtain social support from parents as support awards and informative support.
