Abstract

Religiosity in the field of psychology is meant to see the consequences that come up as a result of the doing religion. This research is conducted to see those consequences in terms of achievement morive and affilation motive of Christians in Jakarta. Moreover, the correlation between achievement motive and affilation motive will also be observed, in order to see what kind of relationship happens between them. Theory about religiosity comes from Glock and Stark (quoted by Loewenthal, 2000) who state that there are five dimensions of religiosity. While theory about motive is taken from the research conducted by McClelland (1987). This is a quantitative and non experimental research. The statistical formula will be Pearson Product Moment correlation for the parametric calculation and Spearman's Rho correlation for the non parametric one. The result shows that only the dimension of application has significant relationship with both achievement motive (rs=0,332;p<0,05) and affilation motive (rs=0,117;p<0,05). Nevertheless, the correlation score is quite low. The research shows that there is a positive correlation between achievement motive and affiliation motive (r-0,209; p<0,05), although the correlation is quite weak. This result indicates that there is some other factors which influence the relationship between the two motives.
