Abstract
This research aim to know whether there are difference of selection of strategy of coping stres between students which tend to own type of introvert personality with students which tend to own type of personality extrovert in overcoming source stres which they experience of. Research conducted to students coming from six existing faculties in Campus I, Tarumanagara University, who are enlisted active follow lecturing activity. Intake of data conducted at January , 13- 16th, 19-20th, and January, 26-27th 2004, during which different each other. Data obtained from students who is experiencing of stress cause of lecturing problem (the number of tasks which must be finished, facing test, and saturated to everyday lecture's activity). Data processed with computer program of SPSS for windows of version 11.5, using statistical calculation test chi-squares. Obtained, score of chi-squares x2(1) = 0.051 , p > 0.05, with relate at significance of value (p = 0.821) larger ones than 0.05, hence hypothesis of zero (Ho) of accepted statistical hypothesis. There are no difference of coping stres between type of introvert personality with type of extrovert personality. This research is also continued with significance test manova (multivariate anova) to know whether there are difference of election of strategy in problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping between student which tend to to own type of introvert personality and the student which tend to to own type of extrovert. Pursuant to result of calculation of manova obtained score F ( 3.48) = 5.695, p < 0.01, with significant value ( p = 0.002), which is smaller than 0.01, Ho refused. Found that there are difference of election of strategy in problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping between student which tend to to own type of introvert personality and the student which tend to to own type of extrovert personality.
