Abstract
This research is aimed at discovering the women with breast cancer adjustment towards emotional wellness of LeMaistre theory. Besides dealing with major changes after diagnosis of breast cancer, women with breast cancer still have to overcome the burden from social streotype. Creative and effective ways of coping should be made as an effort to deal with it, to make a better life, yet meaningful, apart from the illness. It is a qualitative research using in-depth interview as data collection which was conducted within five months, from August 4, 2003 until January 13, 2004 . Five participants in this research are adult women ranging from 40-60 years old. They came from different ethnic groups, religions. educational background, and occupation. They show the episode of emotional adjustment such as crisis, isolation, anger, reconstruction, intermittent depression, and renewal. One of them did not go through the stage of intermittent depression. The other one of them did not go through the stage of renewal. Three major parts that involved to bring success attempt their emotional adjustment are personal characteristics, ways to cope, and social support. It is also found that the religious belief also play an important role helped them to cope better.
